Moved to Idaho
« on: January 14, 2011, 05:28:40 am »
We're officially in Mountain Home now.  We're in the process of buying a house and should be here for at least three years.    We'll finally get to fully unpack and make a home.  Anyone else around the Boise area?

We had one member from ID ... he hasn't been active in forever though.

Had a friend who lived out there for a while he always said there was a good showing of trucks at Meridian Speedway on the weekends  :)

Congrats on the move and the solid home life (for at least a few years.)

But Idaho?  Could you pick a more boring place?  lol.  I thought the Air Force was only in nice places.

But Idaho?  Could you pick a more boring place?  lol.  I thought the Air Force was only in nice places.

Our choices were stay in NC, go to England, or Idaho.  Idaho was actually our first choice.  Before we really started to think about it we thought England would be cool, but once we thought about it we actually put it last.  It would be cool, but the trucks wouldn't really be the best choice for over there.  Then there is the 6 month quarantine for the pooch.  And the last big factor is that Michelle would rather be closer to home than over seas for my first real deployment.

Actually this place is supposed to be awesome if you enjoy the outdoors.  So far we've already been snow shoeing which Aurora loved.  They've got snow mobile trips to yellowstone, ski trips both downhill and cross country, and a bunch of other stuff.  In the summer they've got white water rafting, rock climbing, fishing, and a bunch of other stuff.  Then there is also the flying, the airspace out here rocks.  It isn't crowded and we've got some real mountains to play in when we go down low.  We'll see what we think in a couple months but so far we like it.

I grew up not far from there and still go through that area about once a year.  There is great Chukar hunting just south of you.

Unfortunately we're in city limits and the neighbors are pretty close, the house we initially looked at had 5 acres.  It was a short sale and didn't go through.
We're looking around for ideas on maybe a big camping trip, the weather is amazing right now!  We're actually about to head out the door to the town carnival!
