We are FullTiming Now
« on: November 05, 2013, 02:26:32 am »
Left Twin Lakes campground and so/so resort in Chocowinity NC around 9 this morning.  Made it to Myrtle Beach by 2 this afternoon.
Truck ran great, our home pulled great, and we're close enough to the beach to hear the waves breaking.
We had time to roll over a scale on the way here.   :pout:
Might have to lighten the load just a little..

Seems to be a little heavy on the hitch. Good thing you added them extra tires.  Ya, smitty's right. In fact, this is about as light as she'll get. A camper is just like us, the older it gets the heavier it gets.

Safe travels, and like Walt says, don't forget the pictures! Start a thread up top for us to follow your adventures as you travel around.  :pic:

Finally made it to Sanger Texas Thursday nite, and made it to New Braunfels yesterday.  Staying here for a week before going a little further south.

Did you do your short stay in SD? If so, did you stop in Iowa and give Buford and extra blanket? He's gonna need it.  :43:

Are you running off of the 30's? If you, can switch over to a 100 lb tank. Cheaper to fill overall, and you won't go thru as much. Tried this myself and it does work. Old guy told me that as the temps get colder the pressure gets lower, thus burning more gas to get the same btu's. Smaller tanks loose the pressure faster than the big tank. Burned half as much on the big tank as I did with the smaller ones. Just a thought.

It took about 4-6 hours including lunch to get everything swapped over from NC to SD.  Some things will take awhile but are in process like our vehicle plates but we didn't want to stay any longer than necessary.  The company we use is called Alternative Resources.  Technically a mail fowarding business, but your Mail box qualifies as your residence.  The worst part was the lady at the drivers license place that directed you to whichever line was for you.  She had a bad attitude that day, even her coworkers were shaking their heads...
Oh yea, you can keep that 4.5* morning air temp up there Ken.. no need for it here near San Antonio

It's not the low temps that get me so much as the wind. Yesterday's storms that blown thru had 50-60 mph winds. RV cover is still on, but hanging down on one side. Will have to reposition it. Son has a 10-12 stick built shed loaded with power washers, 4-wheelers, etc (packed to the ceiling) and the wind blew it off the blocks and against the house. Moved it about 10 feet! With the torrential rains that were with the wind, I now know what a small hurricane is like!
