Kristin, how bout a sound clip of that exhaust? I didn't know you had that full exhaust on it already, I wanna hear it.
Gonna hold off on the voting. I really dig that 1st Gen, but he's too new. There's no telling if he is gonna stick around just yet...
-
actually hes not new hes been on here since 08
-
I appreciate y'all noticing my old heap. :2cool: We bought it new in 1993, 245,000 some miles ago. With the exception of the engine and drivetrain, it's factory original.
>Show'n Tell mode ON< ;D
(http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u237/BuiesCreek847/1993%20W250%20CTD/93WD250800.jpg)
I've built it to include the usual crap under the hood:
ENGINE
Long-block:
- Stock/OEM block and crankshaft.
- O-Ringed PDR Stage-X ported head.
- A1 12mm studs.
- Hamilton 181/210 camshaft.
- Hamilton chromalloy push-rods.
- Cummins 60# valve-springs (intake and exhaust).
- Titanium valve-spring retainers with hardened keepers.
- Fluidampr harmonic damper.
- Stock/OEM crank-case breather combined with a Cummins 24 valve crank-case breather for the bulk of any blow-by gases.
- Two Case/International tractor valve-cover breathers venting to the air filter housing that act as a crude but effective PCV system at idle and light part-throttle conditions.
Aspiration:
- Custom built true 100% cold air intake filter housing (The original "Stock-Pot Cold Air Intake").
- BHAF (Big Honk'in Air Filter).
- ED emergency air shut-off.
- Four inch turbocharger feed line.
- HT3B/S362 sequential turbochargers. 21cm exhaust housing on the primary turbocharger, and a 14cm waste-gated exhaust housing on the secondary turbocharger.
- Custom built Hellman after-cooler.
- Banks TwinRam charge-air intake-log feed-horn.
- ATS 3-piece exhaust manifold.
- All hot exhaust components from the head to the exhaust down-pipe are ceramic coated inside and out.
- Four inch exhaust down-pipe to just past the transfer-case where it expands to five inch back to the OEM location behind the rear axle. (optional/temporary 5" stack for race day).
- HUGE five inch high flow, VERY quiet muffler. The engine's internal sounds are louder than the exhaust.
Fueling:
- Custom full AN6 & AN8 fuel plumbing.
- Custom modified OEM fuel pick-up assembly that allows full AN6 plumbing capacity and compatibility while maintaining the ability to use any level of fuel in the tank.
- Walbro 392 electric fuel lift-pump.
- Aeromotive by-pass type fuel pressure regulator.
- OEM Bosch rotary 12mm VE injection pump with a modified 3200 rpm governor spring and M&H Custom fuel pin.
- Home-folded custom high pressure fuel lines.
- Scheid 6x16" EDM injectors.
Supplemental:
- Water/Methanol injection using a CoolingMist stage-2 controller running a Snow 220psig pump feeding dual injection nozzles via 3/8" ID plumbing.
Drive Train:
- SFI approved torque converter flex-plate.
- Custom Suncoast non lock-up torque converter.
- Custom home-built A518 transmission (OEM issue) with increased clutch/steel counts in all clutch-pacs using Alto Red clutch discs and Kolene steels. The overdrive section was upgraded to the 48RE design. 6-pinion/steel planetarys throughout. Custom home-built valve-body.
- The transmission fluid plumbing is now all AN8.
- A supplemental Fluidyne fan assisted transmission cooler.
- A supplemental spin-on transmission fluid filter.
- Stock/OEM NP205 transfer case, DANA60 front and DANA70 rear axles running the stock/OEM 3.5x gearing.
- CenterLine 16 x 10 aluminum rims.
- BFG 305/70R all terrain radial tires.
Brakes
- All flexible hydraulic lines are stainless braided.
- The rear brakes are now disc, with functional parking brake.
--------------------------------------------------
There's other stuff. I'm still working on it. :popc:

Wow... Well, considering how bad azz that 1st gen is (I'm jealous by the way BC847  ) I'm not sure I even have a chance at this lol, but I'm am still happy just to be nominated! Mine will be something worth bragging about in a few years time; It definitely has a lot of potential! But, good luck to everyone! Here are a few pics I took today after cleanin the truck up :)
[Mitch- I tried to do a sound clip by taking a video of the truck but it's so loud it distorts the speakers in my camera! I will try again though and see what I can come up with haha]

Man this is gonna be one tough month for voting. Im holding my vote for now
-
Kristin, are you planning on installing the tow mirrors, or are you gonna keep the sport mirrors? I have got a buddy of mine letting his 08 2500 go into Repo. I may be able to get the mirrors off of him, if I can come up with some replacements. I am putting my old headlights (the ones in my sig) on his, and taking his.
-
Actually, I am going to purchase those Street Scene mirrors, they are the smaller mirrors that have a more sportier look to them... Thanks for thinkin of me though!
-
Both trucks are sweet rides Kristen & BC. Really digging the first gen though. Gonna have to hold off on the vote untill later. Good luck to all.
-

Well shoot . . .. :banging:
In no particular order . . .
One day, I cut the center radiator support so as to sneak in a new cam shaft and 24v lifters.
Had to do the dowel thing and all . .. .
Another day, I slipped in some studs . . .
Did the bottom-tapping too . .
Then there was the time I installed the first twin set-up (HX35/40-HT3B). Have since replaced the HX35/40 with an S300 (62/14).
Popped the head gasket a couple or three times, they're always fun to replace . . .
I didn't care for the way an earlier set of injector lines worked out, so I made a new set . .
I took a 33qt soup pot . . ..
And made an air filter housing that provides 100% cold air intake . . .
Rebuilding/bombing the trans in the back yard is always fun . . .
I like working on clean stuff . . .
Modifying clutch-packs is cool . ..
Did you know that you can whittle-out a proto-type intercooler and folks will make you one just like it?
The challenge is to put the accessory mounts where you can still use the factory AC. When no one was looking, I slipped in a custom trans cooler up front so as to keep with the factory design. Those rubber mounts for the IC came from Graingers . . .
With all that air going in, I had to do something with the muffler, . . so I got a bigger one . .
To get around that on raceday, I made a 5" Wye just before the muffler and had it turn up into the bed. With normal highway driving, there's a cap on that in the bed . . .
That allows the exhaust to go out the back as usual . . .
When it's time to race, you just loosen the "Band-Clamps" and slip a temporary 5" stack in the bed .. .
And put the cap on the regular outlet . . .
Then race the crap out of it . . .
I've got the W/M pump and reservoir in the tool box . . . .
Somewhere in all this I converted the rear drums brakes to disc . . . .
I didn't care for what guage mounting options there are available for the 1st gens so I ditched the radio and put the ISSPRO stuff there .. .
I've got a number of more sensors monitoring the engine and stuff and take advantage of the DATA logging stuff . ..
This is from last year. I've got an appointment for Oct 18th to go again and see what it's good for.
I recently got into the high 12s . . . . :punk:
Geez . . . . the truck's in pieces out back while I bomb the fuel supply some more getting ready for a race next weekend. Maybe I can find some girls who are fun to look at and have them lean on my heap. :daddy:
-
That's some seriously awesome stuff. Especially doing it yourself.
-
im tore between yall, so im still holding my vote till i get a bribe, or the end of it ;)

What kinda times were ya running?
I see you were running the ET bracket, but didn't see the dial in on the window.
-
Looks like you "treed" this guy.

Looks like you "treed" this guy.
I did, but he returned the favor the next round. :-[
I was running a 8.21 dial-in based on three 8.22 runs earlier in the day. Made it to the third round of eliminations (should have raised the dial-in to 8.25 as I drifted up to 8.26 as the day wore on).
Made a dyno-run today. (12mm VE IP, #2 Fuel only, No correction factor)
It's been 11 months since I ran that dyno (FlowJet 248C) last. I've changed the HX35/40 hybrid secondary to an S362/14 and tightened the NON lock-up converter a little since. Got a big boost in torque and now have the power band available at a lower engine RPM range (shifted to the left).
This dyno run (Blue) compared to the last (Green) . . .
