Title: I think the car is possessed.
Post by: JetNoise on November 22, 2010, 10:48:46 pm
OK, so on my way to work today, the Fifth Avenue decided to go all wonky.
First off, it's raining... Don't know if that's a contributing factor.
Second, the heater core got done about a month ago.  There was a connector that was missed, but connected later.  It had something to do with the door locks and wiper motor.  Before it got connected, when the door locks buttons were used, it would turn on the wipers.

Now on my way to work, I heard a faint "click, click, click" like the wiper motor was about to activate the wipers.  The wipers never moved.  This only happened once.
Then I got a "ding, ding, ding" like there was a warning on the dash.  No warning lights on the dash, or on the door ajar panel.  The intermittent "dings" continued until I turned the car off.
And the doors kept locking.  They automatically lock when you initially hit 5 mph, but I had been on the highway for the past 30 minutes, and they locked about three more times, unnecessarily.

I'm tired of  :$: on my beater car.

Vicky - sounds like one or more of the grounds may not be connected back.

Sounds like you're getting a floating ground thru sensors, and switches - you need to find/fix this as soon as possible, as it can surge damage modules

Apparently, it is still possessed.  Today on my way to work, the wipers turned themselves on.  There was no pattern to it at all.  First they were acting like they were on LO and then they went intermittent slow.  Then they did all sorts of other fun junk.  In addition, the locks tried to lock.
At the time it started, I had the turn signal, radio, and heat on.

Would any of you wonderful people have a wiring diagram?  Specifically, I am looking for the wipers and door locks.

i'm  :rotflol: thinkin about the day you goto unlock it to get in, and the car starts locking itself just after you unlocked it.

but i agree that it sounds like a ground issue.

I'm mostly trying to find out where to start looking.  I'm trying to see if I can find where those two circuits coincide.

Start looking in the heater core area under the dash itself.  They probably unhooked everything in their way to get to the heater core.  All it takes is 1 common ground to make switches act up.  Look for torn of chaffed wiring as well.  They may have pulled or pushed a harness to much.
