They planned that out well. 3 Liter bikes. I bet if the store reviewed the surveillance tapes from the week prior they would be able to narrow down the search. They will get caught eventually.

I'm going to guess that they also did some response time research.

If they are professional thieves, but I doubt that. They were sloppy, but they handled the bikes around the floor pretty well (side from the 1 guy who dropped one and cut it too wide) I would say they are a crotch rocket bike gang, just some thugs.

They can only strip them and sell for parts though, not like you can register the bike.

So what are the parts worth on the used market?

I'd say not worth the time they're gonna spend inside looking out  :suprise:

That's if they are planning on registering the bikes. Crotch rocket bike gangs are pretty big over there on the east coast. They could be using them to hop them up and street race. Blow it up then throw it away.

I'm thinking inside job. Those guys really knew how to pack a van with bikes. They knew exactly how many would fit and what kinds.

Yup!  Some people will steal anything not nailed down if they want it bad enough.

A friend of mine who was in Daytona a couple of years ago said that they had 5 bikes stolen off the hotel parking lot during bike week.  Five Mexicans with a couple of metal poles would walk onto the lot, stick the poles through the spokes, and carry the bikes out to a flat bed along the street.  And, this all with a crowd of bikers partying all around.  Talk about balls.  From what I understand though they did eventually get caught.

Haha!

The BEST Daytona story that I ever heard was years ago, during Bike Week, 5 guys dressed as bikers walked into a bank, robbed it, and then just walked out blending right into the crowd. BRILLIANT!!

I bet all them parts are on Ebay and craigslist right now.. all you have to do is start taking them apart and anyone will buy that half New even at half the price.

If someone came to you and said I have a brand new 5.9 CTD common rail engine for sale for $2000.00 would you question it?

As for the owner of the Shop i feel sorry for him hope he had insurance.  My advice to find the people who did this.  Look on craigslist for the parts of those bikes.  I bet they will find tons of stuff engines jackets all labeled NEW IN the BOX...
