Title: Headlights, replace? upgrade?
Post by: bikemancs on August 11, 2012, 03:29:30 pm
Ok guys, kinda annoyed with the headlights right now.

I replaced the OEM bulbs with a set from PIAA.  The driver's side didn't last 6 months.  The driver's side fog lamp has also gone out.

I'm looking for a better, brighter, wider head light beam and wondering what others have installed and what luck you've had.  Specifics too.

Thanks.

One of the problems you have when you go to a brighter light (stock style bulb) is that they sacrifice bulb longevity for the brightness. If you look at some of the Sylvania bulbs and dig down into the specs you'd be surprised.

For example, the regular  Sylvania 9006 bulb is rated at 1000 hours but if you opt to use the 9006 CB (cool blue) its rated at 200 hours of life. The devils in the details on these things so do a lot of research.

I've been running the SilverStar Ultras since almost day 1 on the '06.

I finally replaced the fogs a few months back.

Have had real good luck with those.
