Any codes? Can use the 3 key trick to get them w/o a scanner (even if the check engine light isn't on)

OK that was freaking embarrassing... I'm a bloody admin -- I should be a master of our search & know our Pinned threads by heart... not to mention I'm the one who WROTE the post  :argh:

To get codes w/o a scanner:
Insert key and turn from off to on (with out starting) 3 times.  Any codes will display on the ODO.
You may also have to stand on your left foot while rubbing your belly or sacrifice a chicken ... it's really all about the timing of flipping the key.  Door open / doors locked / last beer consumed all seem to be variables also.  You'll either get "done" or a list of quickly scrolling codes in the ODO area  :rotflol:

My 04.5 fan clutch also gave up the ghost recently causing the same issue. Once coolant has come up to temp the fan automatically kicks in due to the viscous fluid applying pressure to the clutch.

Generally what happens is the heating element in the clutch burns out, however it has been documented the wiring harness gets sucked into the fan.

Do you know which fuse feeds the fan

P0483 is when the commanded fan speed and actual fan speed do not match.

P0480 is the PCM detecting an error in the circuit for the cooling fan.

Both tell me the clutch is shot.
