Dash cluster bulbs
« on: January 19, 2010, 11:52:20 pm »
Has anyone had to replace the lights that illuminate their HVAC controls?

I'm stealing Rich's picture here because we haven't ripped ours out yet to look

Ignore the notes about the 4 parts ... that's for his thing.  I'm thinking the 3 circles on the back of the HVAC controls are the bulbs right?

Are those three bulbs able to be replaced or does the whole switch need to be replaced?

Is it bulb number 04839738AA?

OK digged a bit harder and and finally found the part number:
MOPAR PART # 05135537AA for the AC/Heat Control lamps

Now is this a mopar part only or can I get a comparable bulb at AutoZone

I have been meaning to talk about this also.

My truck has a bulb out near the setting knob for climate control. I have been meaning to take a picture of it but have not got around to doing so. I figured Adam would be the go to guy on this because he switched all of his to the black light bulbs.

I have not taken anything apart to look inside, but is it hard to change the bulbs?

Do i have to go through Super Dave or can i buy the bulbs at a local store?

Check this out.  They're talking about LED replacement bulbs.  It also looks like the LED's cause the lamp out light to come on.

That is a pretty cool look!

I remember Adam saying that some of the bulbs were hard to get too though.

Plus, if you don't have an after market radio, i think it would steal from the look.

(I have stock radio still)

I would love to see what red looks like though...

JO, I see 2 part numbers on Star Parts that should work
5135537AA and 5013815AA.  Let me look and see if there is an "L" number on the bulb, that way you may be able to get it at Auto Zone.....

I am not sure about anything newer than an 03 as thats what I have but most of the bulbs in the dash were all soldered in place. I replaced mine with LED with the correct resistor ratings myself so I wouldn't burn up the LEDs, and I have not had a bulb out message on my dash. I think I found 1 or 2 that were bulbs that could have been replaced without soldering. Here is the link (http://www.dodgeownerforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=9405.msg126702#msg126702) to my post about it with the details needed if you want to do your own LEDs instead of purchasing prefab ones.

Depending on what ones, the 05013815AA are $2 a piece (requires 3) from the dealer. The 1-05135537AA are $7 a piece. The 537's are blue tinted and are longer than the 815's (clear glass).

OK final update on this thread.

Several weeks back I ordered 05013815AA from Super Dave  As always shipping and price were perfect.

Because we were hording parts to do a few other things they just kind of hung out.  Finally got everything taken care of this weekend.

What do you think? Were my old one's shot? :D

In my 06 it took 3 bulbs

Flat bladed screw driver and they twist right out.  Drop the new bulbs in and secure.  Put dash panel back in.
