Good time to start angling in mid-Indiana?
« on: March 16, 2010, 04:06:03 pm »
I can't wait to start fishing again this year. What is a good time to start for bass/bluegill/catfish around Indianapolis area?

I know around me in Michigan, the spring is the absolute best!

Most of my fishing is done in April and May, but that's mostly because i dont have a boat and the fish seem to bite more closer to the shore around this time.

I think its got to do with spawning.

Maybe this could be similar in your area as well?

Beginning - Mid April is when they'll start to hit usually.

Yup, spring is the best time.  July and August you start getting into what we call the dog days here in the Mid West.

I missed out on the Walleye run in the Maumee River this year  :argh:  I've got the gear but haven't found the time the last two years to make it up there.

Cool, thanks for the info. It appears that the Fairfield lake spot has already been fished out. Makes sense since it's public, government-stocked fishing spot, and the parking lot is almost always filled until it closes.

I recently tried Lake Hadley - it was quite fruitful.

Good point. I'll bring my camera and someone to take the shots along next time. My hands tend to get wormy  8)
