I've never once used that thing. The fob is just too huge and I can definitely see problems with it.
Eff that ... that's why I have insurance ...

To :quote: disable :quote: mine requires taking everything to do w/ the security system off ... including an ecm flash

I think it was 04 / 05 they changed the Security System and it's now a full blown integrated monster.  Bike wont run w/o the fob in place.  Such fun electronics are

I wont lie ... I'm a tad worried about mine from time to time causing an issue.  But in 2+ years I haven't had a problem.  Well until the battery in the fob goes out  :censored:

When did they start putting security systems on Harley's? I mean, I had one on my '87 but it was stashed in the saddle bags.

Road trip sounds like a great idea!

Mitch - it's not the limited, It's the Ultra Classic Electraglide.

Really the only difference is the 103 motor over the 96 different paint scheme, and upgraded dash gauges (I dont like the paint scheme on the limited)

I wasnt told anything about keeping the fob away (rode with it in my pants pocket tonight).  Haven't RTFM'd yet, so I don't know if it's an issue

easy enough to keep it in a shirt pocket though...

I'm not sure when Harley added the security system.  I have it on my 06 Soft-tail.  I believe they have it on all their bikes now though (I don't know about the Buells).  But, I haven't had any problems with mine at all.  I even sent the darned thing through the wash one time.

Nice ride Tom....always wanted to get another bike, but till the kids are on their own, that idea just sits on the back burner like a few other things.

Enjoy your rides!

The Security is not standard equipment. That had cost and extra few hundred bucks. Buells are no longer in pruduction. Harley killed that off sometime this past year.

It really depends on where the ECM is located on the bike. Me personally, I have the Fob on the key ring that is attached to the key that goes into the ignition. As long as it isn't flapping around in the wind when you ride, it should be fine. I could keep it in my saddle bag or my fork bag, but then I would forget it was there.
