need a place to Shoot
« on: August 25, 2010, 06:02:35 pm »
the place we normally go shooting is closed for logging.  does anyone know of a good place to go.  not looking for a range, but a secluded area somewhere in the woods or something.  hopefully close to pierce county wa.

WA DNR is gating off everything lately.  It seems you can't head down a single FS road with out hitting a gate anymore.  It's not going to get any better either. Your days of woods shooting are pretty much come to an end down in this end of the Sound.

That being said.  The Marksman in Puy is nice for quick access but I'm not big on indoor ranges.  The Tacoma Sportsmen's Club is a pita to get into a range; the ol'boys club tends to make younger members shoot on the guest range.  The Upper Nisqually Sportsman is really nice though; bit of a drive but it's worth it.

with out sounding outlawish, i don't care for the 1 round in the magazine rule.  that is just gay.  all the ranges we have been to have that silly rule.  what a pain trying to zero that way.    besides in our group there are a couple of class 3 weapons.  can't even be seen shooting  those. :59:  Don't care for the owner of the marksman so i no longer go there.  the bullseye in tacoma isn't bad though.  they let you use shotguns.

I always have a full mag in my pistol at Nisqually.

They have a .50 Cal club that meets every week :D

For me the Bullseye is a no-go ... wrong area for a white female to be walking around.

yeah the pistol ranges are all mostly ok, its the outdoor rifle ranges that we don't like.  i totally understand its about range safety, but come on.  too many old timers with their i got all day to fire off 10 rounds mentallity.  sometimes ya just wanna load up a drum and unload into a car door.  does anyone know what the rules are on the civi range at JBLM?  jo, i know you do.

It's not a civ range.  You must have base access.  You must pre-register all weapons w/ the Provost Marshall.
