But it is one hell of a view when you get to the observation deck at the top

That is cool! I would suffer the mild heart attack again to climb that! :lol:

The worst part isn't the # of steps.  It is a spiral that is not wide enough for two adult human beings to be in shoulder to shoulder.  So you're constantly stopping and turning sideways so the person coming down can get past.  And not TWO of those 250 steps are even.  They are all hand cut stone from way back so you constantly have to look down to make sure your foot is on top of the step. 

I was in sandals :doh: that day and must have stubbed my toes a million times.

I see your 246 and raise you 428. It was 674 steps to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, and an elevator ride to the 3rd floor.  That was easy compared to the 294 steps on the Leaning tower of Pisa.
