SHEEEEEEEEET
« on: October 28, 2010, 12:30:28 am »
Well I was on the way home, stopped at the rest area, crank back up & commence to heading North again. Well as I was pushing on skinny pedal to get up to cruise speed, had a pop & a helacious clatter. Sounds like I dropped a dadgum valve. :argh: :argh: :death:, so Adam is on the way to get the truck so that we can find out what it is in a couple of days.

Ya I am afraid it is though. We will see this weekend. How did you say it on the head issue of yours Rich? Going to let it set & stew a couple of days. Good news is I still have my stock head, so I should not be out as much as if I had sold it.

Yeah, sometimes the best thing to do is just step back for a day or two and marinate on it......

I had to back away from my truck for a few days. I was so pissed off, I didn't even want to touch it.

After stepping away from it for a few days, laughing about it, remembering that when you play with these trucks (or any hot rod for that matter) the way that we do, stuff is gonna break. It's the nature of the beast brother.

Hopefully you didn't eat a piston or totally destroy the head.

Good luck on the outcome, hope that it's not too severe.

Tom, Save the popcorn for now.
Got to Adam's this afternoon, we pulled the valve cover & everything still intact & tight. Fired her up, & everything running normal in valvetrain, rough idle, & lots of white smoke with raw diesel smell. Starting to look like an injector issue. Adam is going to pull the injectors & get them checked. Keeping my fingers crossed for now.
