Desert Hunting
« on: November 10, 2010, 04:03:51 am »
Well its hunting season. I didn't get drawn, so I was spotting for my buddy's. Just a few pics and a short video of the landscape.

Since it is a auto forum, I will cater to that first. Here is a shot of my truck full of the famous Arizona pin striping.

My truck sitting at the bottom of the hill we were sitting on.

Landscape to the North.

Here's a 360 Video of where were at, during this particular excursion.

And a shot of one of the special odometer pics everyone likes to take.

The desert hunt didn't net us anything. Didn't see a single deer. The hunt turned into a 4 hour off road trip, which was friggin awesome. Nothing I enjoy more in the world than wheeling in my Desert. I put about 120 miles on my truck in 4wd today. Went through some stuff that most of yall would cringe at. Good thing my buddy does body work to get the scratches out.

After we got out of the Desert, we hit the farm fields just before the end of legal light. In 45 minutes, we saw 15 deer. On my way home, I saw 3 more. Almost hit the last one I saw. The last herd we had seen had 3 bucks! The only bucks we had seen in those 45 minutes.  :taz:  :banging: So first thing tomorrow morning, my buddy is going to be on the fields. Another buddy of mine got a spike  but its better than nothing, and it was his first deer. So I am happy for him. He took him at the fields early in the morning, where we had seen the 15 just at dusk.

Nitto Trail Grapplers. 35x12.50/17 E rated. My buddy's dad was lead through the trail in his Bronco. He has some C rated All Terrains on it. We went through some real nasty stuff. As I was following him, the dust kicked up, and I tried to take what I though was an alternate route. Well it wasn't. I ended up in a bunch of dead cactus in a wash bottom, looked like massive a Javalena bed. There was nowhere to turn around, so I had to drive over a bunch of small palo verde tree's and the cactus. Made it through no issues. Lots of cactus needles in my tread, but no air leaks. These tires are THICK.

My buddy's dad though, he wasn't too lucky. Just a mile ahead, he went to pull off on a clear hill. Just a couple small Verde trees, no weeds, no nothing but rocks. He somehow picked up the only stick in probably 100 ft radius. Right through the side wall like it was butter.

By AZ pin striping is that what we call "Brush country racing stripes?" (or scratches?)

yeah, thats about all it is, we have California pin striping, usually from sage brush, my trucks full of it. I've got one big custom one running down the top of my hood, then continues up the cab roof that came from a tree branch.

Yep, just a glorified way of saying it is scratched the eff up....again. But, just like every time, that shit'll buff out.
