Instead of another tough decision, this one was a no brainer !
« on: November 14, 2010, 04:44:04 am »
I have been attempting to sell my Cherokee for a while, you may recall my thread regarding the 4cylinder jeep a while back. Well i decided to take a look at a 55 M38A1 that was supposed to be in really good shape, when My dad and I arrived the jeep was in horrible shape and i apologized to the owner for having wasted their time. The owner had brought along a jeep expert ( to inspect my Cherokee) and he asked what i was looking for. I said i am open to CJ's and Wranglers with at least the 4.0 in them. He said I've got an 86 CJ7 that I'd be willing to trade, and i asked if i could see it. so we headed to his house. and he proceded to show me a clapped out crawler that was literally beat within an inch of its life. And i was about to shine him on for wasting my time when he said well enough of this, let me show you what i want to trade you, and we walked around the barn to where a beautiful dark gray CJ7 was sitting. complete with a 500 mile old 4.2 backed with a 4speed and a dana 300, it has a dana 30 up front and adana 20 in the rear. Its got Mopar fuel injection (originally carbureted) and wearing new 33" bfg mudders. it came with a hard top, bikini top, full hard door and half hard doors!

this thing is beautiful, i had to go get it today.

I love the CJ's, sounds like a hell of a good trade on your part. Fuel Injection on the motor will be nice, i know when we would take my dads CJ8 with the 4.2 carb into higher elevation it would be the biggest pain in the  :censored: to get started. Nice score

Nice score! Them CJ's are fun! You'll love it. I loved mine, sometimes I still wish I had it. Then I remember how much I wrenched on it and I come back to reality.  Mine was a 1984 with a '65 327 chevy, a T-4 4spd trans, Dana 300 case, a Dana 30 front axle, and a AMC 20 rear axle. Man that thing was freakin' fun! That Dana 20 hopefully is a lot better than the corp. 20 I had. They had 2 piece shafts, as in the shaft was splined, and the shaft itself cut the splines in the hub when the hub was pressed on. They loved to spin inside each other. Wound up replacing them with Spicer shafts and all was good.
