Christmas in the Adirondacks
« on: January 01, 2011, 05:37:28 pm »
These are some pictures from around that area that Amy and I grew up in.

Contrary to most folks first thoughts of NY, this is what 90% of the state actually looks like.

This was the area between Warrensburg (just west of Lake George) up through Sackets Harbor (eastern shore of Lake Ontario).....

Looks like a great place to be raised up Rich. While looking at those pics, I couldn't help but think of great hunting landscapes.

Got any pics of the pooches in the snow?

Walt, the deer up there will make ya never want to shoot anything down south again......that's one of the reason's I haven't hunted since being down here....

As we were going down the road, a DOE crossed and, no kidding, was bigger than any BUCK I've seen down here.

I forgot how big they are up there.

Amy used to run the check station up at Ft Drum when we were there.

It was NOTHING to see a buck on the scales at 215, 225, 235.....DRESSED!

Average does on the scale were 160 - 180 dressed.

There were times I'd go "hunting" (i.e. my excuse to get out in the woods) and I'd fall asleep (my actual intent for going out) in a stand of  Black Walnut trees and I'd wake up and it looked like the damn deer were line dancing all around me.

I swear, some where out there is a picture of some buck, holding my gun, with a caption that says, "If I only had fingers!...."

Nice. I'd swear you were taking pictures of my area (until the rain washed away the snow). I've been to New York once, and that was over by the falls, but I do hear that you have the city of New York,   and the other 99% of the state which is pretty beautiful.

As for deer, there are bigger ones up north, as my son's buddy tagged a doe dressed around 180lbs. Just not that many. And Walt, you want big white tails, book a hunt in Alberta...they grow them BIG up there.  :punk:

I MAY BE OLD, BUT I GOT TO SEE ALL THE GOOD BANDS.....
