Ya no problem I was working, did you happen to take a left or a right at the split just inside the park? Left will take you over to Gatlinburg, but right will take you to Cades Cove, one of the first settlements in Tn.. They have preserved the some of the cabins and homesteads there. It is an 11 mile loop road that takes you through that section of the park.

We love going to Cherokee in the late fall, after all the leaf lookers.  Its quiet and not too cold.  If we need some entertainment, Harrahs is nearby!!

Try it pulling your 5'er in and around Gatlinburg.   :suicide:

Jim and TN, You guys seem familiar with the area. Coming into Gatlinburg on 441 (I think thats the road into town) at intersection 3 there is a campground on the corner and the road to the left is called 'Dudley Creek Bypass' to Highway 392. The road goes straight up for about a 1/4 mile, makes a 90 degree turn and straight down for about a 1/4 mile stopping on 392. Did this with a 32' fifth wheel. That was pretty intense!

Buford, Just outside Pigeon Forge I think, is a pretty cool caverns to tour. Loved it. Also downtown there is a musclecar museum that is a must see for car lovers. Also in Sevierville is the Smokey Mountain Knifeworks.   Over in Sweetwater is the Lost Sea, largest underground lake in America.

Man, I need to get the camper back on the road.....

I'll bet that was intense, usually just take the wifes car to either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge.

The caverns tour is Tuckaleechee Caverns in Townsend, (Ed, you passed the road for this on Friday), and on hwy 66 in Sevierville is Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum, same for the knifeworks.

Drove the road from Cherokee to Gatlinburg in a jeep pulling a 6x14 enclosed motorcycle trailer that was empty.  Jeep had a v8 but felt like I was Fred Flintstone trying to get it pulling and slowing down.  The car musuem in Gatlinburg is great, if they only offered test rides

Added some more pics to the album of the DeLong Reservation, Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park.

Waters’ Alabama Battery (6 guns) supported by Deas’ Brigade, Hindman’s Division (CS) was positioned on this spur of Missionary Ridge, late afternoon November 25, 1863. As the Union Army of the Cumberland swept up the ridge, this position came under attack by the 2nd Minnesota of Van Derveer’s Brigade (US). As the Union troops overran the battery, fierce hand-to-hand fighting broke out. Five of the battery’s six artillery pieces were captured in the melee. The last, along with other elements of the routed Confederate army, fled down the east side of the ridge towards Chickamauga Creek.
