really interesting question

ok so to me it is an interesting question. I just aquired a 72 ford pickup. it has a cummins in it BUT the id plate says mani in 87 and it is tan. what might this engine be out of? it is a 5.9

Can ya get a picture of it?

Does the data plate have the serial number or CPL number on it?

international made some of the early Cummins blocks and they were painted "tan"

sounds like an awesome truck, i know there's a mid 70's reg cab, short bed ford driving around town that's been for sale, i wish i had the money to go pick it up. Got any pictures of the new truck??

all depends on what your wanting to get out of it or do with it, remember that when you turn one up you have to drive it like that or be able to control it !

well right now it is insane. it has the nv4500. it will blow the tires off in every gear. but i am looking to put it in an 80s chevy crew cab 4x4 dually

sounds like the cummins biege color and it most likely out of a school bus. there pretty much the same. the pumps are sometimes different. im running one in my 99 right now and only problem ive had out of it is oping the HG but that wasnt the motors fault

This would be an industrial 5.9L Cummins. They were in anything from Freightliners to buses. The 5.9 manual we have in the shop is from 1985. You can do the same things to these engines as the Dodge versions. Majority of the industrial pumps put out as much fuel as the Dodge versions just in different ways. We have a guy running an industrial 11mm pump that has 13mm of lift instead of the 12/12 the Dodges have.

hx40, 75hp sticks, m4, 4000 gov, arp's , 60lb springs, electric lift pump, timing advanced, full power screw bottomed, smoke screw turned up, star wheel turned 2 turns.

Could also be an ISC. They look very similar to the ISB.

8.3 is larger than the 5.9, rather noticable to me, but may not be to others.

apparently the industrial 5.9s with ves made more power than b series for trucks. either way, id drop it in
