Went out for a little hydro-therapy this morning
« on: August 03, 2011, 05:56:43 pm »
Went out to Tellico lake this morning to get a little peace and quiet (and to cool off from this stupid heat wave)!
For us "seasoned" guys this is the lake that TVA created in the late 70's where they condemned 300 or so farms and had the news all taking about the Snaildarter endangered species of fish.
TVA  threw up a small dam in an effort to create a lake resort that was to be named after one of the first white settlers to come into contact with the Overhill Cherokees. Thankfully Timberlake Resort never happened.

This lake turns back into the Little Tennessee River as US 129 "really" turns into the Dragon.
The water temp on the dash will tell you further up the water gets cold!
The last couple of pics are the big rock slide that closed the Dragon for a year or so and the path of one of the tornados that went through in April, went across the water and took out one of the electrical towers and up the mountain.
Was a good time, only had 2 deer run out in front of me and my ears popped 3 time for elevation changes.
Now I'm going to lunch with my 2 favorite celebrities Bacon and Cheese!   :43:

Looks like a good turn out

Is there a reason most of you are on standard wheels?

Nice pics! Although 86 to 71 is pretty good temp drop, it's still pretty warm for great lakes temps. Superior is running around 55-60. Chilly for jet ski/water skiing, but pretty excellent for walleye and salmon fishing! Buddy ran the dragon last year I think, loved it.

Only thing I caught in Bars post was mooching, food, and beer. I'm there!
