I did this a few years ago, I had a 16 hp motor off of a cement mixer that I put on it.  It looked like the first kart you had with the one wheel drive.  It would shoot a rooster tail of grass about fifteen feet behind you when you smashed it on the grass.  On pavement you could do a doughnut and smoke the tire lol.

The only advice I can offer is that if you have to change the clutch, upgrade to #40 chain if it doesn't have it already.  Mine had #32 and I was breaking it all the time.

basically can get a few of the old bits of equipment from the golf course for either nothing or close to it, a lot of crap we just have laying around most ran when we parked it..

A diesel on a go cart would be pretty cool. Though I don't see it going very fast unless you install a huge sprocket, the only downside to them.. low RPM.

well... got the new spindles on today, with some minor issues,
they are larger than the originals, so the mounting brackets had to be stretched a little bit.. and the holes drilled to 5/8" not bad since the holes were already slightly egg shaped so 2 problems solved in one shot...

another issue that arose, the steering knuckle on the new spindle is pretty different location than the originals.. so the tie rods had to be flipped...
and that created another problem... the bumper was in the way...

but i got it all figured out..
