After the dodge got stuck in a little bit of snow last winter,
I decided that a nice light weight snow wheeling truck would be a good investment. Been putting a lot of work to get ready for this winter and have loosely documented it.
1990 toyota extended cab pickup is the platform I started with
not much to look at, but its a solid frame, trans, and motor.
A wee bit of damage on the passenger side
Some damage on the bed corner too
Step 1:
That IFS has got to go
it took some of the motor mount with it
Step 2:
SAS spring mounts replace the IFS garbage
Step 3:
Rear spring mounts move forward 5 inches
Step 4:
1984 toyota front axle slides in with allpro 4" springs
yep, its got a high pinion diff with 4.88 gears and an ARB locker installed
Step 5:
Front end buttoned up with chromoly hub gears, 30 spline longfield axles and bilstein shocks
Step 6:
rear gets the same treatment with 4.88 gears and an ARB locker
Step 7:
Body damage gets repaired
Bed gets Bobbed 9" and Herculined in white
The cab gets the same Herculiner treatment
Step 8:
Locker switches get wired in
Middle location will be used for the air compressor
Step 9:
Some new bumpers go on
Next on the list is to convert the AC to an air compressor, get some drive lines fabbed, fill the bumper with a winch, and roll some 37" Iroks under it.
Bring it on Winter.
