First time shooting a shot gun!
« on: January 09, 2012, 01:32:04 am »
Jake took me out with some friends to go shooting and I shot a whole bunch of different guns that I've never shot before (I've only been shooting three times prior to this and the last time I went was at Jane Wayne Day in 2009). Here are two videos of my first time shooting a shot gun!

And yes- My shoulder is hurting like hell right now... Good thing I have a desk job.
Why yes, I do drive a 2009 MINI Cooper S.

I am definitely a Smidget**

Don't lean back like that.  You need to be leaning slightly into the gun instead.  You won't hurt your shoulder so much that way.

Yeah, you need to lean into the gun more and actually pull the gun tight into your shoulder.  It seems odd, but it reduces the recoil and therefore lessens the pain in your shoulder the following day.

Otherwise, looks like you had a good time.  20 ga or 12 ga (from the kick, looks like a 20)?

Yes, I got a license to shoot a tree! Clearly you missed where I went Christmas tree hunting and got my very first Christmas tree. the orange tag thing in the tree gives me a legal license to kill a tree!

Oh and for the record, I wasn't as sore as you might think I was after the day of shooting. Granted, I'm also used to perfectly flat ground and a target and a personal PMI instructor. Instead I got uneven terrain and a "Here.. just shoulder this and shoot" and no high fives even when I DID hit a target (with a different gun)
