I'll keep quiet about my mileage, you'll just get mad.

After all.....that's the whole reason you put that much into the truck. Only 5,000 tanks of fuel left before you break even  :$:

;D

And nick, the odometer don't care if you are going forward or reverse, its still going to count up either way

We traded Tanya's Jetta in on the Touareg Diesel.. I recommend you dont get the "egg" Rich" You wont be able to help yourself.. that this is straight nasty power to weight as it is... I keep searching and searching for more tning options but really can't find much.. its so smooth and just wicked quick for its size.. was cruising at 95mph the other day... had no idea. till I looked down

That was how i was justifying getting that low of mileage while plowing. Now what am i going to tell myself?  :(

As far as that trip i took Tuesday... I got 11 on the way there with an unloaded trailer (4400lbs) and i got 9.5 on the way back with a loaded trailer (11500 lbs). Most of it was flat land but it did get a little hilly in PA as i was going through 80 and what i think i remember as 79?!

Either way... this make you feel better, Aaron?

Don't you also have 3000 lbs of tools and crap in the bed of your truck?

Not this time of year... she's all cleaned out for the most part besides some wood and my full tool box in the bed.

If my truck is unloaded, no junk in the bed and just had fluid and filters changed, with tires at 60psi I get 17-18 at 70 on a trip.
As soon as I hook to a trailer- empty boat trailer or the 5'er it drops to 11-12 at 65mph.
At 70 with the 5th wheel behind, loaded with its 11-12000 pounds of crap I get 10-11.
Every 5 mph higher it drops another 1mpg.

Remember my truck is bone stock, just running synthetic oil and lube.

Your truck works though.  I imagine you do alot of short drives, idle time while talking to customers, run to whereever to pick up the needed material etc.
You'll get different mileage from a daily driver to a working truck.
If I drove the same route every day, the same 20 miles with 1 stop sign, and 2 red lights, I would get different mileage than driving 20 miles in Chicago.

When you plow a parking lot- it takes more fuel to get you moving than it does to keep you moving.  If your moving 4" of snow it takes less effort than moving 6 or 8". Same RPM but it may take more throttle input to move you.  This goes into converter slipping etc.

Makes sense with more fuel to get me moving while plowing.

If you have a pass that you can make that will let you hold speed for more than 1 minute, you're either on a monster parking lot or you're lucky.

I was always thinking that it did not count in reverse.

Ya learn something all the time here!  :punk:
