utter disappointment
« on: May 14, 2012, 01:12:54 am »
Tonight we hit a nice buffet place and I was so excited to see they had crawfish.....  But darn woulndt you know that Walt has completely spoiled me.  His mudbugs are much much tastier than these were.

Just thought Id give Walt the shout out on this.

I never had them before this years G2G so I have no point of reference. I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed them though! I haven't had them since either, but look forward to them next time!! ;D

Thanks guys, the pleasure was all mine.

Dennis, if ya like, I can send you some Zatarains Crab/Shrimp/Crawfish mix to carry ya over till next year.

They're still in season, though, the later in the spring, their shells become harder to peel.

It's a shame that I'm so far off down away from most everyone. It'd be cool to have some folks over for a weekend boil. Besides eating and sometimes music in New Orleans, there's not much else to do here, on land at least.

Now on the other hand, my place would be a great stop over for a trip to Houston to hang with Buzzy and hit up the local tracks.  :whistling:

Well...to say within a reasonable distance for the purpose of a weekend crawfish boil.

Our friend Mike lives in Lacombe, about 20 minutes away, Dragginaknee lives close by, but he's sort of dropped off the radar after he traded in his 2500.

It would be cool to set up something in Houston one day. Besides the tracks, I think that there are 2 of them there, they usually have an awesome gun show also.

But back to the crawfish....next year I'll bring some more.

I'm guessing this was the root problem.  They probably receive frozen ones I would guess.  They were hard to peel and the meat was kind of tough.  If I had to guess they were not fresh critters.

I traveled over 4000 miles round trip to eat some of Walt's critters, and I'd do it again in a heart beat.

A trip to Houston, hmmm....... not a bad idea, but after seeing the heat index there last year, its gonna have to be Jan. or Feb.   :sweatdrop:

Let me know if you're coming this way Mitch, I'm right off of I-12, which parallels I-10, but north of New Orleans. I can cook alright, but the best food is in the restaurants located all around here.

I definitely will. I am "planning" on heading up to Minnesota for Christmas, and coming down that way on about the 27th. It'll take me a day to get there, so I SHOULD be there around the 29thish.

I am looking at 5,200 miles round trip.
