Dually tire size
« on: February 11, 2013, 02:04:38 am »
What was the stock tire size on a 2006 dually?  What size fits without a lift?  Does anybody use rear wheel spacers for wider tires?

Getting ideas for a conversion!

Jim, the stock size on the 06' dually is LT235/80R75.
We don't have alot of alternatives, with the exception of the BFG KM2.

This is a taller tire, but as you can see it's basically a mud tire. I didn't want to sacrifice road noise to gain a few inches in height.

If you look over on the Cummins Forum, there are quite a few threads about this topic, with most people choosing wider tires and having to use spacers. I'm personally not a fan of those, but maybe I'm over reacting.

Plain Jane Stock (for now)

Running 245/75r17 toyo m55s on mine. They are just a little bit wider than stock. I'd have like to gone to a 255 but they don't make them in a 17". With a 255 on a 16" wheel, my last truck there was about 3/4" space between the bulge of the tires.

Forgot to mention the 255's would pick up snow between them as you go down the road forming an ice ball you'd have to melt out with warm water. Not a single problem with my 245's doing that.

Jim, I still have my 19.5's if you want to go that route.
