1993 D350 4000lb axle??
« on: March 14, 2013, 01:24:28 am »
I'm working on a 1993 D350 that needs ball joints (big suprise)  when I look up the parts it has two different ball joints for with and without 3800 or 4000 lb axle.

How do I tell the difference?

Thanks guys

Tom, give super Dave a call. With the VIN he can look up the axle for you.

I thought 93 was still a King Pin setup on the front?  Maybe that's the difference, I know the Cummins trucks got the heavier front axle, and I'm fairly certain those were a King Pin setup.  Maybe the smaller axle was a ball joint setup.
Here's some info on Dodge front axles:
http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/axle/axlespecs.html
According to that chart all the 350s should have gotten the heavier front axle.
Hope that helps some.  I'm sure Super Dave can help even more with VIN specific info.
