Single Turbo LS1 1988 Mustang Swap
« on: April 18, 2013, 06:06:56 pm »
So I have been collecting parts for a while for my 88 Mustang LS turbo swap.  I found a 88 GT roller for $500, 5.3 for $200, and a 4L80E for $150.  The plan is to stuff these parts in the Mustang, hang a S475mm turbo on it and see how much boost the 5.3 will take.  I already have a spare motor so why not.  Eventually when I get bored blowing them up I'll stuff a cam and 6.0 heads on to see how much more power I'll make.  I'm going to use stock electronics and tune it with EFI Live.  Hopefully the interior will be mostly stock with a Camaro gauge cluster (to monitor the LS motor).  I'll post some pics up of the beast tonight.  Goals for the project right now are about 550 RWHP and 9's in the quarter.  Oh yeah, needs to be able to drive it every day lol.

Got the trans in and mounted, had to modify the way the trans cross member fits in.  Now that I have the motor and trans in I can start to mount the turbo and hot side.

I was driving the Chevelle the other day to go pick up some oil and while on one of the roads (hwy 80) I rolled into it at about 60mph but noticed it wasn't pulling very hard, then I looked in the rearview and noticed the two black marks and said to myself oh its spinning again lol.

Didn't get a lot done this weekend, I was helping a friend swap a turbo on his car.  I figured out where and how I'm going to mount the turbo and I got the intake on.

Rich and I figured out tonight that the stock 5.0 throttle cable end snaps onto the throttle body on the LS, I just have to make a bracket to hold the cable, I couldn't friggon believe it.
