Replacement key remote
« on: April 27, 2013, 04:27:51 pm »
Newbie here, be gentle please. Hi to all and thanks in advance for your expertise and help.
I need to purchase a replacement key remote part # 56046705AE. If I buy a used one can it be reprogramed to my car. The one I have has some writing on the back but I can not begin to read it. Dealer gave me that part number to match my VIN. I have seen some FCC numbers mentioned on the net, do I need to match those numbers also?
Thanks

An FCC number helps to order the correct remote.  I would think that if the dealer gave you the part number, it shouldn't be required.

Also, I see no reason why a used remote could not be programmed to your specific vehicle, though I've never had to replace a stock remote that didn't have the FCC number on it.  Plus, I've only bought one replacement and it was for a Subaru and I got it from the dealer.
