2000 Durango 5.2L won's start.
« on: July 28, 2013, 11:37:59 pm »
Hi,
This is my first post on this forum and am hoping someone can give me some ideas to check on my Durango.
I was using a probe one day troubleshooting the cooling fan when the engine cut off (has not ran since). A friend told me I fried the computer, so I ordered a new one (was flashed properly to match my vehicle). Plugged it in and it still wont start. Turns over but it seems like its not getting fire or fuel. I do not here the fuel pump like I used to either. I can jump the pump and get fuel, but still no start.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Its blocking my garage atm and I can't get the car in the garage out.

Thanks
LB

With the fuel pump not priming with the key, check the fuses/relays for the circuit. That should hopefully help the no fuel issue.

Check the other fuses while you're there

The coil could be weak or bad. After that, check the sensors.

The fans got a fuse and a relay, probing around could have tripped a circuit but fry the pcm I doubt it,  crack or cam sensor would be a good place to start, one of those go bad it will put the truck in a "no start" state, means no fuel or spark at the same time.

it aint low till it scars asphalt

A relatively common problem on those engines is the coil wire becoming corroded and/or breaking causing no spark. It usually happens at the coil end of the wire, not the cap end. That's what I would check first.

Have you had it scanned for any codes?
