Workin in the Garage
« on: July 23, 2014, 04:41:42 am »
I've been neglecting my truck for a while now, but I finally got a bunch of new goodies for her and the work has begun. It's all a bunch of suspension stuff for now. Some day down the road motor goodies will come around.

List of things being done is, swapping Dana 60 in the front and Dana 70 in the rear, new progressive lift springs in the front, Fox 2.0IFP shocks, long arms, and a shackle flip in the rear.

So far I've gotten the old axle out of the front and installed the long arms, coils, and bolted in the D60, I still have to put everything on the axle like the knuckles and hubs but that'll move along pretty quick.

Hopefully she still rolls out of the garage when i'm done because she barely fit in there in the first place. Updates and pictures will be slow, but they'll come along as I move on. Here's all I've got for now.

Holy cow! If every man made up for neglect that way all women would be walking around with lots of sparklies :tt2:

Heck of a project you've got going on. Good luck!

It's been slow progress, but it's progress nonetheless  :cho:. Got the front all buttoned up and on it's own wheels again. Looks a little funky with the stock steelies and 33's, but once it's done i'll move my 35"s to these wheels and run them until I can afford new wheels and tires together  :$:.

Got goin on the rear, got the axle out, and cut my factory shackle plates off the frame, but ran into a little problem with the new brackets that i'll have to figure out before I can go any farther, but other than that it's been a fun and fairly smooth project so far. Hopefully have it back on the road soon.

Well I've finished up my lift install and 8 lug swap! All together it comes out to about a 6.5" lift, I haven't had a chance to take it off road yet and test it's abilities but the ride quality on the road is great for a truck with this much lift. It sits on H2 wheels and 35"s for now because they were a cheap find and look pretty good. But when the time comes it'll get some new wheels and 37"s.

I always felt like our trucks were twins separated at birth. Good to see you doing all the stuff I wanted to do, but never got around to.

ha, thanks man. I got a chance to play in the snow a little and posed on a rock just to flex her out, everything tucks real well. After flexing it out I cut some more stuff underneath for some more control arm clearance. But I'm hoping in the next couple weeks get to go do some actual crawling and get a good feel for how it handles.
