2005 Durango anti theft system problems
« on: January 26, 2015, 06:54:23 am »
I have a 2005 Dodge Durango SLT, last week the anti theft system came on and would not let us start the vehicle. Security light was on and it would shut down after running for a few seconds. We did not use the spare keys at all, really did nothing out of the ordinary. It did this for most of the day but started working fine again later that day. Is there any way to disarm this system or perhaps should I replace the module so that my family doesn't end up stranded somewhere if it decides to happen again?

The keys I believe are the original ones, so about 10 years old.

Had a Jeep that did similar ~ 'cept it had remote start & kept turning on when it wanted to but not when I told it it. It all came down to batteries: both vehicle & keys had to be replaced.
Install, Owners, & Service Manuals for many years & makes:

10 year old keys, I'd try replacing those first.
