Ok gang. what I have won't work. I NEED a M880 tailgate. I would prefer if it already has the bolts already in it. This should have the non-stud style latches, rather the bracket style. Note, the bolts do not form a straight line, rather a slight "frown" from the center. Willing to pay shipping since I know it will be a Pain.

NO! You can NOT license it as an "Antique"!!  I have serious issues with something put on this planet in '77 being an antique!

What's next?

Well, I couldn't title it as a "Horseless carriage" if that's what you're asking.

Exactly... its not Kenz age yet....   :whistling:

Hey, Hey.... I prefer "Classic" instead of antique.  ;D Although the truck looks to be in better shape than me.   :fart:

Took it down to the self car wash and pressure washed her off.  Got one new mirror on, waiting on a new arm for the other.  I think I'm going to have to think about paint sooner rather than later, hood and top of the fenders is showing some significant lack of luster.

Hey tom...  Does your horn suck?  Mine does.  had to hit it in traffic today and couldn't hear it over the engine.  Thankfully I have an alternative (the siren/PA system).  Just wondering if mine is broken or legit?

Such a cool looking truck.

Do you have a polisher?  I'd be curious a polisher and some compounds would bring that paint back to life.

You back in MN?

Have you checked the roof above the windshield for rust? It's a bad spot these rust from the inside the paint will be the last to go,  mines completely gone almost to the cab lights

So far it appears solid.

Spent some time working on the troop seats today... tried to do it before it got hot.  I think I need to start working swing shift here if I'm going to be productive on this thing.

fuggen troop seats...

So, part of my work was to detach the troop seats (8 total) so I could disassemble them for new wood.  Well, the wood is rotten enough that the lag bolts are turning when I twist the bolts.  On some of them I've been able to grab the heads with vise-grips and finish the job.

Now I'm at the point where I'm using a wood drill bit and drilling out the wood in an attempt to break the slats loose and be able to grip the remaining bolts to un-do them.

It'd probably be simpler with some sort of saw system, but I don't have much more than a hand circular or saber saw/sawzall.  For as old and rotten as the wood is, its still surprisingly resilient...   :banging:

The grill guard is off at powder coating.

hope to start paint soon.
