Noplugs ... Need your brain

OK Rob you are the power guru. I think I'm thinking this one through correctly but I don't trust myself.

Wanting to hard mount a qi charger for my phone. I always forget to plug my bloody phone in until it beeps since I switched over to qi chargering Charger comes with 2 amp lighter adapter. I am finding 1.5 & 3 hardwire kits. I'm thinking I need to go with the 3; it will only draw what it needs & a 1.5 will slow the charge. Or am I off and plugging into a 3 amp feed will fry it?

Well there are always exceptions (USB-C cables are an issue at the moment...) but for what you are doing a 3 amp adapter will be fine and will provide all the power the Qi needs. The 3 amp adapter will likely run cooler too as its not having to provide full power as the 1.5 or 2 amp might.
