5.2 heater / defrost blowing luke warm air
« on: October 18, 2016, 10:34:46 am »
I was having rad issues so I replaced the rad, put a 180 thermostat, and replaced hoses too.  Right before the job I noticed my heater fan started making a "whirring" noise when on high and the air is only hot right for the initial blast and then goes luke warm right after.  Both heater core hoses and are hot to the touch after a drive.  I have noticed a girgling noise when I first put it in gear and drive away.  Any body have any suggestions as to what is going on as the rain is here and winter will soon be upon us here in Canada so I need my heat!  Thanks in advance fellow mopar nuts!

Is this Gas or Diesel engine?  Because of the way the hoses run, it very easy for air to get trapped at the top of the heater hose and not let water run through the core.

Forgot to mention the 1st blast of air is nice and hot for the first 2 or 3 seconds, then it goes straight to luke warm.....and very luke at that.

There was an issue with the blower / air mix doors on my 2006 (and some other years).. You should see if there are any recalls for yours (What year?)

1998.  I should also add the fan seems to be making a weird noise (when on high only) like it's rubbing on something...strange that it's on high only.  Think this could just be heater core issues?  I will try flushing it this weekend.  Both hoses feel hot although it's hard to tell cuz they both go right over the engine lol
