Brake llghts

Have been "alerted" twice that my 2014 Dodge Challenger has "no brake lights."
Everytime I check, they are working. The brake lights themselves are faint if the sun is in back of you. But the "Red Alert" light is bright -- brighter than the lights.
Is there a chance the brake lights themselves are not fully illuminated?
