Window won't go up
« on: January 11, 2009, 02:55:10 am »
I was on my way to go eat I parked by the restaurant and tried to roll the window up but it wouldn't go. I looked in the owners manual it says there is a circuit breaker but I didn't see a fuse. The passenger window still works so I assume that the breaker is ok I could be wrong.
I took the switch out to see if it is the problem. This is what I tested so far (diagram below)
#'s 1 2 3 4 always have continuity
4 + 6 have continuity while pass switch is in up position.
3 + 6 have continuity while pass switch is in the down position.
5 has continuity with 1 2 3 and 4 with no buttons pushed, but The connection is broken with all when the drivers side is in the up position.
pushing the driver side to the down position has no effect

I'm thinking that the switch is stuck in the down position, so that needs to be replaced.

Can anyone tell me how to jump out the switch to get the window to go up? Also to test to see if the switch being on for the 20 mins it took to drive home fried the motor.
Is there a fuse that may have blown or could the breaker be bad?
Its snowing here I had to pull 3 the bolts that were between the speaker and door handle so I could push the window up I duct taped it so it would stay there
I'm gonna try to get the switch tomorrow and start there. Once again thanks in advance

I think Cowboy Bob had the same switch problem. You might want to shoot him a PM

I got it all together. I remembered this morning that I had the  2001 service manual that I got from the other forum a while back I read in there how I just needed to put 12v to the motor one way is up the other is down, way less complicated than I had thought. I reattached the window to the regulator took an old 12v plug split the end and plugged it in window went up. I plugged the switch back in so the connector wouldn't get lost in the door and now the damn thing works. I did disassemble then reassembly the switch last night maybe that did it I don't know. I am still gonna get the new switch. I'm just glad it was warm this morning 27*.

Glad to hear that you were able to get it working again. Yeah, I'd replace the switch as well.

Mine would work sometimes, and others not.  It finally got to the point that none of the switches on the driver side worked at all so parts&service hooked me up with a new one.

Slight derailment....

I'm having window issues too.  My driver side is fine, but the passenger side takes forever to go up, and then clicks like it's falling into the track right before closing completely.

Suggestions?
