Powertrains and Performance

Under the long hood is an 8.4-liter V10 engine that puts out stupendous numbers: 600 hp and 560 pound-feet of torque. All that thrust runs to the fat rear tires through a six-speed manual gearbox (the only transmission available) and can catapult the Viper to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and through the quarter-mile in only 11.8 seconds. Not much on the planet can touch this Dodge.

I've read different years up till 2011
it makes sense to disc the veh. With the struggling economy the guys going through mid life crisis that could have afforded it in the past are now gonna be forced to buy a vette instead.
Chrysler needs to focus on getting two quality cars with 40+ mpg. Its not that hard, but I think chrysler has the worst cafe among the big 3 auto mfgs. Now I don't know if theyll keep producng the motor since the ram srt 10 uses that same engine but I don't see many people buying that ram either. They ought to bring the viper out every 4 years kinda like the world cup. Chrysler cutting I think 1200 jobs at the st louis plant even though they are moving most of their ram production from satillo mex to st louis to make room for the nissan truck they're gonna build. The car they're gonna get from nissan is a start in the right direction.

ive heard that they are going to discontinue the viper lineup for the 2009 or 2010 year model and come back out with it in 2012 with some help from their new partner in crime "fiat". Should be a much more wicked viper considering fiat owns a big stake in ferrari and they will be giving insight on the new vipers. hopefully ill win the lotto so i can get one of those mean mofos lol.  :2guns:
