Disabled MDS
« on: February 02, 2009, 11:21:14 pm »
I finally broke down and bought a Superchips Flashpaq.  I only wanted it for the MDS disable feature, but I'm going to try out the different programs as well.  I'm currently running the Mileage XS program, they say it really help fuel mileage.  But the best part is no more MDS.  The truck is so much more driver friendly now.  I really think there will be less wear on the transmission as well because with MDS it constantly locks and unlocks the TC.  I'll keep you updated about the fuel mileage.  I would really recommend disabling the MDS, it makes driving much more enjoyable and easier.

Yes it is.  MDS has to be the most pointless invention that Dodge has added to their trucks.  I can see how it might help on the cars that use the HEMI because they are much lighter, but it is pointless on a 6000 lb truck.  BTW I have driven a Chevy truck with thier version of MDS and it is seamless, couldn't even tell when it kicked in and out except for the light on the dash.

The MDS on the 300C is flawless, can't tell when it kicks in and out at all.

My truck would kick in and out on the highway on flat ground.  I would get up to speed and the rpm's would level out, then MDS would kick on and the rpm's would increase by about 300 and then slowly fall back, but not back to pre-MDS levels.  Then it would lose speed (not enough power with only 4 cylinders running) and MDS would shut off and the rpm's would jump and then settle back to normal.  In a few seconds it would start the whole cycle over again.  The only time it would run in MDS for more than a few seconds was if I had a 20 mph tailwind or going downhill.  Also the throttle response during city driving really sucked, now it feels like it should.

I'll second that I wasn't happen with it.  Made the Jeep feel jerky, slow to respond to peddle input, and the damn TICK when it was active!!!!  Sounded like I had 12 little smurf miners under the hood pinging away :puke:
