6.7 guys.......read this NOW
« on: April 14, 2009, 01:55:20 am »
6.7L owners please read

A reliable source who needs to remain anonymous was informed of some interesting news from his source at Dodge. The latest flash software for the 6.7L CTD will have code in it to detect aftermarket software.  If aftermarket software is detected, the ECM will have an internal failure and will need to be replaced..Not sure what the software level is, info will be passed along as soon as possible..More research is needed to determine if this is possible.  But so far, no one wants to be the guinea pig..

Wow, really? I haven't run across any ECM that have failed. The only thing I know about the latest software is that you can see how many flash attempts have been made. So when the truck leaves and say the attempt counter is @ 3 and the next time they come back it's @ 5 you know it has been reprogrammed.

Can't wait to hear more info... ;D

Yeah I heard about that last week. The 09 flash is not accepting the edge at all. I am content with my current flash, have not had a problem at all, so I won't be getting any updates.

Yeah, the later model 09's are suppose to be coming with this software. Not to sure, but there was a discussion about whether or not they are going to incoporate into the earlier model flashes. For this reason, i won't be getting any updates!!!!!

Being tracable is one thing, but for them to make it kill your truck is BS!!!!

Not to sure, but there was a discussion about whether or not they are going to incoporate into the earlier model flashes.

If you get a flash, it incorporates all previous flashes.  Meaning if the latest flash is "AE" and you are at "AB".  You will also get "AC & AD"...

Its still a computer...Give it time and the aftermarket will figure it out, even if it means the Edge has to come with a new ECM

A shop on CF somehow hooked a 5.9 ECM to the 6.7. It took alot of work, but it is working great. He can use the extensive amounts of 5.9 performance parts, smarty, all the good stuff.

I can see where Dodge would want to void your warranty but to disable your truck to do it is just freakin wrong.

I can't actually see Chrysler doing this. I'm very interested to see how this comes out in the end.

Is sounds like they still think the trucks belong to them, and we are just borrowing them.

I agree

What if someone doesn't have a warranty anymore and just wants the latest flash? Its gonna toast the ECM?

That's just wrong !!

Why aren't aftermarket companies making aftermarket ECM's now anyway ( or maybe they are and I just don't know it )?
