If you burn a CD with music you download off the internet, I can tell.  A code sets that says "implausible cd data".  Meaning it does not see the copyright info the music owner puts on a store bought CD.

Well ... that explains it ( maybe )

A friend of mine made me a CD to use in my stereo in my trailer and it works great, but when I try to play them in my truck, an Error message comes up

That SUCKS !! :argh:

Donny yours is too old to have that stereo system in it. Yes the cd player cant read it, no it wont set a code. "Big Brother" is already watching, most of the big bored diesel manufactures have software in the ecm that will store data when it sense a crash. In other words, they know if you were speeding, if the brakes were applied, what position the accelerator was in ect ect.

Donny, copy that blank CD to another brand CD and it should work.

Mine wouldn't play in my '03 but they did in my brother in law's '05. I burnt them to another brand and now they work in my truck.

If aftermarket software is detected, the ECM will have an internal failure and will need to be replaced..
Oh that sucks.  Aftermarket is the only way to go aw we all know stock sucks ;) Rich, what about piggyback control systems like my split second, would they work since it doesn't alter the PCM?

About the only thing you could do if it was impossible to get past that is go to an aftermarket engine controller like Bosch (they make one but it starts a like 6k and goes up from there) and set it up to run the engine. You also have to take into account that you have to "run" the transmission. It can be done but its a lot harder the newer your truck is cause the systems are more interconnected.
This is why you see more 24v and 12v modded up. Its just easier.  '06's aren't too bad  and neither are some 0's but the newer 6.7 liters will be more difficult.

On the other hand, if you did  go to a  engine controller, you could really tune a 5.9 or a 6.7 engine to the N'th degree unlike the mechanical versions. You could get rid of unneeded injection events and really tune the fuel curves for whatever turbo system you wanted to try...

Damn I'd like to have the money to play with that..

I guess the 6.7's are gonna be limited to plug and play stuff like quadzilla and edge boxes. Those things capture sensor data and fool the ecm into doing what they want without changing the ecm....

Holy 2 years old, batman!

They've all worked around the secure bootloader programming.

Not an issue.
