My Bike
« on: July 08, 2008, 07:02:02 am »
picked it up about a month ago. got it with 4k miles. its an 05 Harley Davidson XL 1200 Custom Sportster. at time of purchase it already had stage 1 screamin eagle on it (a/c, pipes, rejet). besides that all ive done is get rid of the nasty stock gody straight up liscense plate holder with a chrome lower laid down one and got some new grips, they are a lot fatter, add a little bling, and feel a lot better. my hand isnt so cramped since its not fully closed anymore. already put over 1k miles on it. got big plans for it

colors are called "black cherry pearl" and "black pearl"

and my helmet and jacket

i orig had this helmet, but after a week the visor kept "partially popping out" when i would look right, and i would have to hit it in. they couldnt replace the helmet as it was special edition and there are no more in the warehouses and the company that makes them has no more. they called the company and dont even make the piece i needed to fix it anymore. so harley gave me a $300 credit (how much i paid) towards a new helmet. i ended up gettin the carbon fiber one above (and had to pay $200 more)....(minus my moms employee discount of 30% :gunsmilie:)

anyway i was disappointed, i really liked my orig helmet more than any other one i looked at, but after riding with the carbon fiber one, the damn thing is like im not even wearing anything it seems SOOOO much lighter

The black cherry looks sooo nice when clean in the sun.

thanks for the compliments guys, im lovin it. i didnt want to spend more than 5k, so i was lookin at 98-02 models, as they really keep their value well and anything in great condition, relatively low miles, and newer was out of my range. long story short, mom works at myers duran HD in tulsa. i looked for a few months and they never had anything close to my price range. i had seriously traveled and looked at a few bikes. i finally decided on 1 about an hour south of tulsa and was going to make an offer the next day, and i was on my way home and decided what the hell, ill stop 1 more time at myers duran. they had this, and man the guys there really wanted to hook me up. they had just gotten it, and it hadnt even gone to service to be checked out yet. anyway they threw in the service and dealer prep for free, and hooked me up with better discount than any workers there get. i pretty much stole the bike at 7,000. i could ride it for a few years and get what i spent. im stoked

ya it sounds a lot better, its got the SEII (screamin eagle 2) pipes on it. just the slip ons. i turn 21 in january, and ive decided i want to buy myself a little present. hooker troublemakers with the scalop ends, need to start savin though, $7XX :censored:

Donny does the solid wheel catch more?  I've looked at a few bikes w/ em and all I can think is how it would act like a sail and make corning a PITA?

People worry about the solid wheel a little more than i think they should. It MAY catch a little on a serious crosswind, but nothing that's gonna toss you over and i honestly don't think it's any more than without a soild wheel. I chose the wheels that i chose because I had never seen it before, and plus with me being as lazy as I am, cleaning them is easy as pie. They're polished aluminum though. If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten them in chrome. I hate polishing aluminum.

Thanks for the PROPS Runner !!
