5.0 verses LS1
« on: July 10, 2008, 12:46:36 am »
He said go but I thought that he didn't so I stepped on the clutch to wait. He was actually spinning.  When he moved I let off the clutch.  At the 9-10 second mark, I was getting sideways but still pulling hard.  You can't see the end but  we went a little over a 1/4 mile and he was slowly gaining.

Technically it is a 4 lane U.S. Highway.. The Camaro owner had it picked up today to have some speed goodies added.  He is spending some more money to try and beat me...

Is he an auto or manual?  My 98 camaro had 12hp over stock and yet was .8 quicker (12.9 vs. 13.7) and 2mph faster (104 vs. 102).

All I had was a 2800 stall, MAF from a 2001 model, CAI, shift kit, and drag radials.  So if I can get into the 12's with 12hp over stock, that guy can do a LOT better!!

Still a good run!  That stang should have a 150 shot on it.

They are both straight shifts.  Mine left the factory as an automatic.  I converted it to a 5 speed last year.  It was more consistent as an auto. But I could not launch hard. Plus I have too much cam for the factory overdrive unit.  With the 5-speed, I can launch so much harder, and it is twice as much fun.

Ever heard of a transbrake?  High stall converter?  I guarantee you a 4400 stall in your stang would leave HARD!  Especially with a 3.0 multiplication!!

Yeah I thought of both but really wanted the 5-speed.  I am building a new engine/trans combo that is an automatic.  Haven't figured out what stall I am going with yet.  But the trans brake is in the works.

Jr. I would race ya.  I ain't scared.

Started with the 302, bored .30 over. Balanced and blueprinted.  Eagle rods and pistons. Ford Racing GT-40p heads with 1.7 roller rockers and equal height valve springs.  Cobra intake.  30lb injectors. 70 mm mass air and throttle body.  EGR deleted, smog pump deleted. CAI.  Electric fan conversion. Ford Racing E-cam.  Lots of porting and polishing on the heads and intake..And a few other things that I keep to myself...

Here is a pic before the electric fan conversion....

How much cam are you running in that thing?

I gotta hand it to ya, you got a monster, even if it is a stang, lol.  Wait till I get my new heads and a bigger cam, bye bye stang!
