How do i get the damn thing off? I see in jakebrakes DIY in a 3rd gen you have to take a nut off, but according to the shitty haynes it says just screw it off. but it aint wantin to budge.

You need a flat head screwdriver . the part that has what gear you are in pops out and there is a nut in there . put the screw driver where the soft rubber meets  the plastic  on the top . It's like an inverted mushroom so it's a pita to get out. I have pics .
