DIY Computer Controlled Alcohol Injection
« on: August 03, 2009, 07:18:15 am »
I'm creating a DIY write up based on my Alcohol Injection System.  First I will make a computer controlled then standard boost activated setup.  This will be a work in progress but here is the start.

The brain of the system is a Split Second Engine Management Control Unit.  Using "T" clamps I tied into my PCM input and tapped crank and cam sensors for RPM and exhaust sensors for EGTS.  The Split Second has been remapped using an "R4 controller."  I access the computer through my laptop PC Using an RS232 cable.  The unit will only monitor crank sensor, cam sensor, EGTs and boost to deliver the alcohol through two anodized injectors (designed for alcohol) at preset rates to optimize efficiency.

Flow is controlled two ways.

#1 at 3psi boost, the system arms and fires injector one at about 150cc/min as boost climbs, so doe’s rate of injection. At 6 psi, injector two starts firing to match the 150cc/min giving me 300cc/min. At WOT the system is firing about 500 cc/min. This is about 40% of the injector’s potential.

List of parts.

02.  Northern Star Water Pump      P/N #M2682270

I'm sorry it has taken me so long but here is my wiring diagram.
