Ok so this is pretty simple.
Things needed
13mm socket wrench
Oil catch pan
filter wrench
Oil and Filter
Funnel
Walmart plastic bag
Ok so before you go burning your hand, let your engine cool a bit before you go doing anything.
If you have a 4x4 you should not need to put it on jack stands to get to the oil pan.
I get under from the driver side door for to access the oil pan.
I prefer a 10qt oil catch pan just for the wide base.
Position the catch pan below the oil pan, take into account it will come out at an angle and then come to a drip so make sure your catch pan is wide or you pay attention to the flow so you dont wind up having half of it flow down your driveway.
Use the 13mm socket and remove the drain plug, let it pour out and wait for it to start to drip and then plug it back up (roughly 25 #/Ft)
Next remove the oil filter,
its best to crawl from the front part of the truck. Use the filter wrench to unscrew it, while its still held on take a plastic bag and cover the filter and use your hand to unscrew it the rest of the way.
Installing new oil filter
there will be a flat circular gasket on the end of the filter, remove and wet with oil. Before installing it make sure the gasket is on the old filter and not still on the engine, if you double seal it, you will have leaks. A lot of people advocate just hand tight, I still use a wrench just for an extra quater turn.
Next pour in new oil using a funnel
Personally i use amsoil 5w-30, has a 25,000 mile life. I also use the amsoil filter as most store bought filters arent designed for such long intervals.
