Fuel Rail system
« on: September 25, 2009, 09:55:20 pm »
Ok so i have to replace my intake manifold gasket but am having issues. I don't have a clue how to un-pressurize the fuel rails ::?:. And thats the only thing keeping me from getting the manifold off so that i can continue my project. Any tips or tricks that you guys have would be appreciated.

Should be a shrader vavle near one of the ends.

Depress the shrader valve and the rail will release pressure.

If there is no schrader valve, use this procedure:

Use the following procedure if the fuel rail is not equipped with a fuel pressure test port.

Remove the Fuel Pump relay from the Power Distribution Center (PDC) . For location of the relay, refer to the label on the underside of the PDC cover.
Start and run engine it stalls.
Attempt restarting engine until it will no longer run.
Turn ignition key to OFF position.

Cool, but now i won't be able to start this project until mon. as my parents took the truck on their little vacation. It gets better gas milage and is a little more suited for taking trails than their truck is.

That's it!

Just push it and the pressure will release.

Put a rag over it, it will spill a little. Not much, but there is a little bit of residual pressure.
