fuel additives
« on: August 30, 2010, 12:21:45 am »
i have been experimenting with different "brews" trying to find something to quiet the injector noise. Which in my mind says that they are happier. So while walking through walmart i decided to buy the cheapest quart of ATF and try that. i added it when i filled up based on the 1oz per gallon scale, and drove it home. well i fired it up and headed into town to get a movie at the redbox and i must say there is a very noticable differance in the injector noise.

i lwill continue to look for the best mix.

My farmer buddy has always dumped ATF in his tank for all the tractors. He has a '76 Case with 14,000 hrs on original pump and injectors. He has another one with over 10,000 hrs with original fuel system. Granted most of those hours were with high sulfur but still.

My dad always added a quart of oil to every tank of his service truck, just to piss off the greenies he says. His first truck dumped the exhaust out the bottom, so he was smoking out the street on the passenger side. When he got his brand new truck, he had a single stack on the passenger side, so the giant tank on the truck on the truck was black on 1 side.
