Windows frosting/icing up on inside
« on: January 10, 2011, 06:29:13 am »
I have a 2005 1/2  ton Hemi since the beginning of this winter the windows have started frosting up on the inside more then the outside.  I have checked for any leakage out of the HVAC area since it was suggested that the heater core may be leaking, and it is not.   Cannot figure this out.    Checked all of the windows they are up, there has been no liquids spilled in the cab.  It is a SLT full size cab and I do live in Wisconsin.

The problem just started this year and I have owned the truck for 3+ years.  Any ideas ????????

Maybe the heater / air handling area are not draining out properly. Have you checked the drain for the A/C system that is under the hood.

Welcome!

Temp fix (although it will suck) might be to crack a window.  I'm trying to remember how we fixed that with my mom's car back in MN when it did it...

Quick check for the heater core is to see if both lines are the same temp at operating temp.  They run from the water pump to the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle.  Check that and report back.

I haven't looked at the 1/2 truck but I imagine it is the same as mine. The drain for the A/C is on the fire wall, passenger side, right below where the A/C lines and the heater core lines go through. The drain is a piece of black plastic pipe about 3/8 in diameter that comes out of the firewall and angles slightly down.
