Won't fix anything.

If you take those sensors out all together the light will still stay on as the computer is still looking for a signal from them. Without the sensors in there it thinks you have no tire pressure at all.

Exactly!
I blew a tire on a fleet van and had to use the spare which didn't have a sensor.  Damn light stayed on until the new tire went on.
Thank goodness for older vehicles.  Less computerized crud.
