i am wanting to convert my 04 ram 2500 5.7 hemi into a manual im looking for a good 5 speed trans that will bolt up to my motor i know some 2500s came with the 5 speed but ive looked around and cant find one anywhere. so if you have one im going to need the clutch pedal and what not to. let me know what you got.

good luck in your endeavor. . .the NV4500(I think thats what they used that year) is hard to come by as New Venture went out of business at the end of 04. not only that but repair parts are even harder to come by.

so why do you want to dump the 545RFE in favor of the row boat if you dont mind me asking?

well i take mine off roading all the time and i feel like the manual transmissions are alot easier to rebuild and more reliable then the 545rfe. but if those trans are hard to come by then what other suggestions would you have? i mean granted i love autos but ive been into dodges for a couple years and i have a 98 dakota thats throwing a bunch of trans codes at only a 120000.. so i figured that since i kinda beat on the ram i might want a better trans for off roading.

The G56 Transmission is a lot easier and cheaper to find and build.

As a guy who spends most of his free time off road in my truck, I would stick with the Automatic if I were you. Sometimes the stick is a curse.

it is not a bad trans, as long as you keep the fluid cool the clutches will be good. also as long as the input torque does not exceed 500ft-lb it will hold just fine.

the largest issue with most dodge automatic transmissions is the use of improper fluids. While Amsoil, royal purple, and others are very good fluids, they are too slick and will allow the clutch pack to slip causing premature wear.
